Excellent marmite du pêcheur from the specials. Not exactly cheap at 29 euros, but less than a bouillabaisse at nearby places and much more practical for one person. Plus, lovely view of the port and directly looking at Notre Dame de la Garde on the hill.

The interior and the exterior areas of the cafe are spacious and clean. The attendants are friendly and diligent.

Had a wonderful experience at Au Doyen. We were looking for a restaurant along the harbor that wasn't touristy and it wasn't looking promising until we came across this one. We sat inside and the servers and everyone were extremely friendly. They explained the menu and were always on the same page with bringing us what we needed.
We got the mussels, whole fish, and calamari. Everything was delicious. The mussels came out piping hot and it was a huge portion. They also came out and de-boned the fish for us which was very considerate. It was very cool that they are connected to the souvenir shop next door and so we bought some stuff there and interacted with the owner, who is also very friendly.
Dessert was also delicious and we overall had a great experience at a restaurant that had surprisingly good food in a touristy part of town. The outside covered patio was full of people so they were constantly running around attending to them but appreciated how they always made time to ensure we were taken care of and never had to wait.- Cuisine

This place is FOR REAL. We had such a good meal here. The wine was excellent, but the food was off the charts. The stuffed mussels were a great start, and then we had the tuna tartare and baked fish of the day (it was sea bream today). Everything was cooked to perfection, and the sunset was beautiful. We couldn’t have had a better dinner on the port! Many thanks to the friendly staff.

If you are an even vaguely liberated woman you may have had the pleasure of dining alone. If, in addition, you are unusually fortunate you might find yourself facing that eventuality in the vibrant and quintessentially Mediterranean town of Marseille. If this is you, let Au Doyen be the place. Be served by a chic maîtresse d’hôte and a staff of delightfully polite and unremarkable male waiters who won’t judge you for ordering moules frites as early as 7pm. Enjoy an expansive view of the renowned Old Port, which is undeniably THE place for seafood, while sipping a glass of vin blanc as crisp as birdsong in winter (see Haiku by Wendy Cope). The ambiance is lively yet peaceful and at the height of the tourist season, no reservation is necessary for a waterside table. Sincerely, Au Doyen provides an impeccable basis for truly immersing oneself in the pleasures that our foremothers fought for, as well as drafting a Google review. Vive la France- Type de repas

We came here to have a coffee and ended up returning for lunch again. The quality of the breakfast, especially the pain au chocolat as well as the amazing moules mariniers for lunch were outstanding. Staff has been extremely busy and forgot a thing or two but the overall experience has been great.

The food is super tasty and good portion size. I wish there was more vegetables and salad with the dish, but the protein size was huge. Both the tuna steak and salmon tartar were massive. The black rice was cooked to perfection and the fries were truly fresh! Superb and realllly tasty

The staff is extremely friendly, making sure that you have everything you need. The service was professional. The food was amazing, tasted very good, served very appetising, and the portions were generous. The prices are reasonable. Fresh seafood, good wines, Pastis... we left happy and with a full stomach.- Service

We ordered the mussels and Caesar salad royale. The mussels were so fresh and the sauce I could literally drink it! The salad was equally delicious and presentation was wonderful, especially when I cracked my pouched egg on top…liquid gold.
Next we couldn’t pass up dessert! We ordered a chocolate cake with chocolate lava inside, the fresh whipped cream with wild strawberries was a beautiful touch.
The service is OUTSTANDING. Being a former server myself from a high touristy area (Key West Florida), the people are wonderful and kind.

Merci beaucoup 👍
Overall food is great and gorgeous views and excellent service. The prices are reasonable considering the quality of the food and the location. Mussels were delicious, especially the butter sauce. Goes great with the bread! Salmon burger was moist and comes with generous portion of salad and fries. The beef tartar was soft and full of flavors. Highly recommend all three dishes.

The best Mediterranean food I've had so far in Marseille. The owner is very passionate about food and helps customers engage with local street performers. Highly recommend this place for good food and a great atmosphere.

We ate there in the same day for breakfast and in the evening for dinner. The food was great, prices were decent and the serving as expected (unlike other places where we waited for 20 minutes just to order the drinks).
